Sandakan is a city in the Malaysian state of Sabah, on the northeast coast of Borneo. The hilltop Puu Jih Shih Temple offers panoramic views of the city. Agnes Keith House is a wooden bungalow that re-creates the city's colonial-era life. The city is also a base for visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the limestone Gomantong Caves, home to swiftlets, bats and kingfishers.
What to bring (recommendations):
Raincoat (wet season Nov-Feb), cap/hat, insect repellent, sun cream, good walking shoes, socks, (leech socks are available for sale), a pair of sandals (island), torch light, comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pant, binocular, camera, personal toiletries and medications.
Sandakan/Turtle Island (L/D)
Pick up from hotel and transfer to CQ Jetty for Selingan Turtle Island. This journey by motorised boat will take about 1 hour. After lunch, grab your mask, fins and snorkel and head to the beach where you can find lots of juvenile marine life. Or, you can choose to relax or sun bathing by the beach. Before dinner, treat yourself to a slide show featuring information of the turtle park and turtles. After dinner, standby at the Cafeteria. Wait for Park Ranger’s signal before proceed in a small group to the egg-laying site to witness the mother turtle laying eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and releasing of hatchlings to the sea. Stay overnight at Selingan Island Chalet.

Turtle Island/Sepilok Orang Utan/Kinabatangan River (B/L/D)
0600hrs, wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast at 0630hrs. By 0700hrs, depart
Selingan Island and return to mainland. Proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre,
watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’ or ‘Man of the
Jungle’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the
forest. Watch the scheduled video show programmes (25 mins) and visit to the Exhibition Hall.
After Sepilok, proceed to Sun Bear Conservation Center to see the world’s smallest bear in its
natural environment. Lunch en route at SJR. After lunch, we drive overland to Bilit, Kinabatangan
River. Arrive at Bilit around 1430hrs, check into your accommodation. By 1530hrs, have an
afternoon Tea with some local bites. After a short briefing by the nature guide, take an afternoon
cruise (4.00pm) along the Kinabatangan River (Sabah’s longest river at 560km) where you can
observe wildlife on the boat itself. Dinner & overnight stay at Bilit Adventure Lodge.
Optional: Night walk can be arranged, pay locally @ RM10.00 nett p/pax/hrs.

Kinabatangan River/Morning Cruise/Gomantong Cave/Sandakan Nature City/Airport (B/L)
Wake up early in the morning to start the day with an early river cruise at about 6.00am. After the 1 hours boat cruise, proceed back to Bilit Lodge for breakfast. By 0830 hrs, depart Bilit for Gomantong Cave to explore the largest limestone & bird nests cave in Sabah where millions of swiftlets make the cave their home. After cave, return to Sandakan for lunch. Afternoon, depart for Sandakan Nature City Tour. The City Tour includes a visit to Sandakan Memorial Park, Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, located on a steep hill top where you can have a magnificent view overlooking Sandakan Bay & Town Centre. Then, continue to one of the oldest church in Sabah, St. Michael’s Church. Drive to the Central Market where you can see the local produce and fresh seafood being sold. Visit to the Agnes Keith Museum to learn about the life in the colonial days on Agnes & Harry Keith. Final stop at the nearby English Tea House where you may have another spectacular view of Sandakan Nature City.

Reservation and Cancellation
All reservations must be made through our web site at least 3 working days before arrival and is subject to availability.
In the event of cancellations, there is no cancellation charge except that once a booking is confirmed a 5.0% Cancellation Fee of the total amount will be imposed if cancellation is notified to us according to the cancellation policy set by individual hotel / tour operator or between 04- 21 days prior to check-in date depending on the season.
A one room night cancellation charge will be imposed if a confirmed reservation is cancelled less than the cancellation period as per stated by the hotel cancellation policy. During certain peak seasons, stiffer cancellation conditions and charges may be imposed. Cancellation terms and condition are subject to change without prior notice as it varies from hotel to hotel. We will re-confirm the cancellation period via email upon confirming your reservation.
All changes and cancellations to the reservations must be made through ORIENT TRAVEL & TOURS by written notice either by Fax or E-Mail.
We do not accept cancellations by phone.
If you were to cancel directly with hotel or tour operator, we will not entertain any dispute, promises or refund that transpire between your goodself and the hotel staff at all.
Non-Cancellation Policy (NCP)
Our Non-Cancellation Policy (NCP) is based upon the policies adopted by the Hotels and Tour Operators. Each establishment has their own Non-Cancellation Policy which will vary according to seasons and other factors. Consequently, our NCP is subject to these changes and could be amended without prior notice.
Cancellations made within the non-cancellation period i.e. Last Minute Cancellation, will be subject to a cancellation charge imposed by the Hotel. For details on the NCP and the charges, please refer to the relevant Hotel details by performing a hotel search.
We will refund the full amount less 5.0% Processing Fee to the user provided the cancellation is made before the specified non-cancellation period. With regards to cancellations made within the non-cancellation period, the user will be refunded the initial billed rate less any cancellation and administrative charges. The amount refunded will vary according to the Hotel’s NCP and cancellation charges. All users are advised to check the respective hotel’s NCP and its charges before making any reservations.
Refunds will not be granted for NO SHOW reservations (does not check in). In addition, Marimari.com reserves the right to refuse any payment or refund whether to the users or Hotel for agreements and/or separate arrangements made between the user and Hotel on refunds or cancellations of bookings.
