About this Package
#Facinatedallway Georgetown, Penang, is blessed with a UNESCO world heritage title but much of its rustic charms have since vanished, dispelled rapidly by the continued development.
On this short excursion from the Penang Straits, we take you riding along scenic trails to savour some forgotten scenes and trades.
The excitement of riding along beautiful singletrack, taking in sceneries, savouring culture, admiring forgotten trades, and witnessing unique lifestyles as we head to the "Rain City", Taiping.
Taiping, the city of peace, holds many of the first such as the museum, railway, and newspaper circulation. And while defined by water and lush greenery - the first capital of Malaya is worthwhile as your favourite gateway.
While sharing the same ingredients as Penang and Ipoh, Taiping has delightful food, elegant colonial architecture, and street art to a charming hill station and mangrove reserve.
As we extend the day exploring Taiping and nearby Port Weld, there are many more fascinating encounters and discoveries to embrace.
Our riding sets us towards a lush hillslope as we move away from Taiping’s beautiful Lake Gardens. Settle back on your saddle and breath the fresh air as we ride into the history with a visit to an abandoned Larut/Bukit Berapit train tunnel.
Passing then through dainty hamlets and plots of plantations along remote train tracks, through viaducts and underpass to leave the slopes of Berapit. Heading to Kuala Sepetang (Port Weld), we stop by interesting places like Taiping, Museum, and Ngah Ibrahim’s fort, and learn the history behind the founding of the first capital of Malaya.
We then head to the charcoal factory and the Chinese Dragon incense-making factory to see these ancient trades' delicate and time-consuming processes. Visit the unique settlement by riding along the maze of paths between timber houses built so closely together. Enjoy fresh and delicious lunch at a distinguished seafood restaurant in Port Weld.
Twin Sharing at a 3-star Hotel or at a Glamping Facility both located at the Taiping lake gardens.
