The Borneo Trail Classic(BTC) is one of the multiple stops around the world under the umbrella of the 2021 Spartan Trail World Championship(STWC) event. The only stop located in Southeast Asia, BTC is an opportunity to get outside, experience nature, set a goal, gather your tribe, and push yourself beyond what you thought was possible.
The Borneo Trail Classic is now launched and officially part of The Spartan Trail World Championship. Spartan, the world’s leading endurance sports and wellness brand, has stepped up to the trail running world in a complicated year. Having canceled its inaugural season as a result of the global pandemic, the Spartan Trail World Championship kicks-off with some of the most prestigious races in the world. The reloaded series features new events and a new format, reaching the world’s trail running community. The BTC is scheduled to be held on 16-17 October 2021 at Kubah National Park.
Kubah National Park is one of the reserved dipterocarpaceae forest park, taking 35 minutes distance from Kuching city centre. This is a landmark and visitors worth spending time a day to come closely with wildlife which over 93 species as recorded by authorities. The runners will have the opportunity to explore the wild rainforests on the stunning island of Borneo in a challenging, one of a kind experience. Be ready, the distances might not be long, but nature will be tough. Spartan Trail World Championship Borneo Classic 2021 will attract the best of the best in the sport as well as legends of the sport. This will be a truly international event with the spotlight on Sarawak come October 2021. The jungles of Sarawak will make it arguably one for the toughest trails both physically and mentally. Kuching Fitness Association will be working very closely with Spartan Malaysia, and Spartan International to put on the best trail event in Asia, targeting a field of 3,000 racers and we are expecting more than 50% of the racers to be from outside of Sarawak. We firmly believe by hosting the first ever Spartan Trail World Championship event in South East Asia, will help to further promote the tourism industry in the state, making Sarawak a major sports tourism destination in the Asia-Pacific region.
