Gunung Datuk, located in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, is one of Malaysia's most significant mountains looming at an altitude of +650 metres, and ranking amongst the tallest peaks outside of Sarawak and Sabah. The mountain, also known as Gunung Datuk, Gunong Datuk or Mount Datuk, is famous for its impressive height of 884 metres, which surpasses the adjacent Gunung Angsi. The 4.6-kilometre walk, which takes around two hours and 41 minutes, climbs to a hilltop that is rich in historical and archaeological significance, having once been part of the ancient Malay kingdom of Kedah Tua. Gunung Datuk, a recreational reserve park established in 1992, is well-known for its archaeological findings, which include pottery shards, stone tools and human remains going back over 10,000 years. Entrance fees are RM 5 for Malaysians and RM 20 for international visitors.

At 825 metres, Gunung Angsi is a popular peak in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, located about a half-hour’s drive from Seremban. The trip through the deep tropical rainforest includes muddy pathways, root-climbing and steep ascents, making it an excellent choice for first-time hikers and a good training ground for intermediates.

The total hiking duration ranges from five to seven hours. Entry permits must be obtained at the Bukit Putus trailhead. The highest mountain in Negeri Sembilan, Gunung Besar Hantu, is located in the Jelebu district on the state's northern border. This challenging walk requires prior permission from the Negeri Sembilan Forestry with a permit fees RM 5 for Malaysians and RM 20 for international visitors. Please be informed that the permit must be purchased at least one week before the hike date. It stretches approximately 10.1 kilometres one-way, and takes four to six hours to accomplish. The trail begins with a pretty easy climb, however, it gets more challenging as you gain height. The Orchid Campground, a bamboo bridge crossing and streams, contribute to the hike's appeal. The deep rainforest throughout the trail provides an opportunity to view varied flora and wildlife, making for an exciting excursion for experienced hikers. The mountain peaks at 1,462 metres (4,796 ft.).

The trip up Gunung Berembun, which is located in Kampung Pantai, Jelebu, is a tough yet rewarding experience for experienced hikers. The walk is 9.7 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 762 metres. It normally takes roughly four to five hours to complete. The path begins in Gunung Berembun Jelebu and hikers must register to get a permit before proceeding. As you rise, you will see a variety of wildflowers and tropical plants, which add to the hike's visual appeal, whilst making it a good place to view birds. The wide mountain provides excellent camping space, but hikers should note that there is no water source at the summit, so make sure to bring along plenty of water. Gunung Berembun is known for its rich biodiversity and offers a peaceful escape into nature, making it a must-see for both nature enthusiasts and expert hikers.
