The state’s national zoo, which stretches over 50 acres, showcases some of Malaysia’s most extraordinary wildlife such as the Malayan Tiger, the Malayan Tapir and so much more, making Zoo Melaka one of the best places to visit for an immersive nature experience.
Located in Ayer Keroh, which is approximately 13 kilometres from Melaka Town, Zoo Melaka is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends. Boasting an open concept, visitors are more than welcome to view the animals as they roam freely and comfortably amongst their large enclosures.
Zoo Melaka also has a fun line-up of activities including intimate time with friendly elephants in their enclosure. Zookeepers provide sugarcane sticks for a small fee so you, too, can participate in feeding the elephants. The bird aviary is also another colourful highlight here.

Alternatively, ride or feed a pony at the zoo’s petting section. Also, you won’t want to miss the feeding times for the pony starting at 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
Embark on a journey back in time at the Dinosaur Encounter today. Known as the biggest dinosaur park in Southeast Asia and the second to make an appearance in Malaysia, this park does not disappoint.
Enjoy a guided stroll around the park with a tour guide to witness life-sized dinosaurs come to life. With over 128 dinosaur displays here, Zoo Melaka takes you back in time through an informative session on the Age of Dinosaurs.
Not only is the Dinosaur Encounter home to a variety of dinosaur species, but it also houses other animals that co-existed during the same time period, also known as the Ancient Giants. Animals such as the Woolly Mammoth, Saber Tooth Tiger and many more can be found here. During the night safari, dangling Avatar Lamps are hung from the trees, giving off the perfect ambience as you walk through the park.
Complete your journey at the Dinosaur Encounter with a visit to the gift store, which also allows you to try out a selection of VR games. The VR Ride immerses you in a thrilling roller coaster ride, equipped with movable chairs and wind machines that guarantee the ultimate VR Experience. Besides the VR Ride, the Dinosaur Encounter also offers you other VR games to choose from such as the VR Box and the VR Cinema.

Hop on a tram and join in the fun at the night safari as you enjoy a thrilling experience of wildlife spotting or simply getting an up-close glimpse of their way of life during the night. Zoo Melaka’s Night Safari starts at 8:00 PM and ends at 11:00 PM.
