Dear Friends of Malaysia,

The government has decided to allow fully vaccinated Malaysians to travel domestically across the country effective 11 October 2021 due to the nation’s success in reaching its 90% adult vaccination target.

The government has also agreed to permit fully inoculated Malaysians to travel overseas without the #MyTravel Pass application under the Immigration Department, which is previously required for the essential trip such as for works or studies.

However, Malaysian borders will remain closed to international tourists except for emergencies, business and official purposes, and a mandatory 14-day quarantine remains in force for anyone entering Malaysia.

There will be no more roadblocks at the state border nationwide following the lifting of the interstate travel ban. However, the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) would still be enforced, and Malaysians have been reminded to comply with all precautionary measures, including self-testing, even though it is not mandatory.

As of 10 October 2021, Malaysia has fully vaccinated 65.2% of its total population, with 72.2% of teenagers aged between 12 and 17 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.

On another note, the successful pilot project for the domestic travel bubble in Langkawi launched on 16 September 2021 has attracted 60,504 local tourists with a contribution of RM24.9 million tourism receipts, as of 6 October 2021.

As of 10 October 2021, another 10,959 COVID-19 patients have recovered, and at the same time, Malaysia recorded 7,373 new cases, totalling 2,334,617 cases nationwide. The country’s COVID-19 death toll is 27,329.
