Key Information for Travelers to Malaysia.

Monday, 01 August 2022

Dear Friends of Malaysia,

Starting 1 August 2022, inbound travellers to Malaysia will no longer need to fill in the Traveller’s Card on the country’s contact tracing app, MySejahtera.

The relaxation of the rule is aimed at easing the entry procedure for travellers to Malaysia due to a better state of the country’s health system.

At the same time, the Health Ministry will always increase the monitoring of travellers’ health symptoms at all international points of entry into Malaysia. Upon arrival in Malaysia, if the traveller is detected to have fever through the thermal scanner or found to be unwell, they will be referred for re-examination by the health department.

After re-examination, if there is a suspected illness due to COVID-19, monkeypox or MERS-CoV, the traveller will be taken to a nearby health facility for further check-up and treatment.

Therefore, inbound travellers to Malaysia should self-monitor their health, comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) and are advised to go to a health facility if they are unwell.
